For this new Blaze Imprints release entitled “The West End New York City Classics Mix”, DJ Spinna submerged into the West End Records back catalogue, bringing to the surface a two-disc compilation that showcases not only West End's hits, but also the many breakbeat, funk, and soul gems signed by Mel Cheren over his historic career.
Most will recognize Garage classics like Sparque's "Let's Go Dancin'", Loose Joints' "Is It All Over My Face" and "Do It To The Music" by Raw Silk, along with some select DJ Spinna Re-Edits of "Keep on Dancing - Keep on Dubbin'", "The Mexican", "When The Sh!t Hits the Fan" and "(Everybody) Get Dancin.'"
Many of the songs on the compilation, however, have been largely unavailable since their original vinyl release. DJ Spinna, as always, selected the best of the best from this back catalogue, creating a mix that entertains while educating the listener as to West End's truly diverse selection of funk, soul, and breakbeat classics.
